Shining a Spotlight on the Glenkens

The Glenkens Community and Arts Trust (GCAT) is being supported by the South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) to create a trial project that will draw attention to the many positives of living and working in the Glenkens.

This is in response to regional and local concerns about depopulation, and supports the Glenkens Community Action Plan goal of the Glenkens as a place ‘where people will want to live, to work, to bring up their families, and to grow old.’

The project is currently seeking videographers to create exciting social media content for its Glenkens Hub website and social media channels. The stories, photos and reels will spotlight younger people living and working in the Glenkens. Due to the funding timetable, applications for the contract close on the 16th Feb, and the work will be carried out through February and March. Applications from partners / groups are encouraged.

Helen Keron, Chief Exec of GCAT said, “Rural communities in D&G are amazing places to live and work, despite some of the challenges, and we know that lots of people and families in the Glenkens are doing just that. We are delighted to have been awarded this funding from SOSE to allow us to assess the effect of highlighting people’s stories of living and working in this beautiful part of the country.”
