Gretna Green Spreads Kindness on Random Acts of Kindness Day

Gretna Green, the family-owned wedding, hospitality, retail, and experience destination, embraced the spirit of Random Acts of Kindness Day by sharing unexpected moments of joy with visitors, team members, and the local community.

Rooted in a tradition of love and connection, the initiative was a heartfelt reminder of the simple magic of giving without expectation.

Throughout the day, the Gretna Green team surprised guests and visitors with small yet meaningful acts of kindness, each designed to bring a smile and inspire others to pass the goodwill along. Visitors discovered handmade Scottish shortbread or fudge left on their car windscreens, accompanied by a note encouraging them to continue the kindness in their own way. Around Gretna, four bouquets of flowers were placed in unexpected spots, ready to brighten the day of those who found them. For couples choosing this special day to tie the knot at Gretna Green, a handmade crochet heart was gifted as a keepsake of their wedding—a lasting reminder of love and generosity that they could cherish or pass forward.

“At Gretna Green, ‘Be Kind and Humble’ is one of our core values,” said Michelle Hall, Director of Group Revenue at Gretna Green. “No matter what challenges come our way, we believe in supporting each other, treating everyone with respect, and finding ways to spread kindness. A simple act, no matter how small, can create a ripple effect that touches more lives than we ever realise.”

Through these thoughtful gestures, Gretna Green hopes to remind people of the joy in unexpected kindness and encourage others to take part in their own way.
