Gretna Green, Scotland – 4th October 2024 – Gretna Green, the family-owned wedding, hospitality, retail, and experience destination, is thrilled to announce that it has won the award for Best Visitor Attraction award at the prestigious Scottish Thistle Awards Regional Final.
The Scottish Thistle Awards have shone a spotlight on the best of the tourism industry for the past 30 years. The regional final for southwest Scotland was held on the 3rd of October 2024. Winning this Regional Award now places Gretna Green in the running for the Scottish Thistle Awards National Final, which will take place in November 2024, where they will compete against Scotland’s best attractions.
Following a £1 million investment in 2022, the Famous Blacksmiths Gretna Green Experience, the UK’s first immersive visitor attraction dedicated to love and marriage, takes guests on a journey through the captivating stories of romance, elopements, and enduring love. Featuring treasured artefacts like love letters and marriage records, the experience showcases the timeless essence of Gretna Green’s romantic heritage. The experience highlights Gretna Green’s romantic heritage and the vision of the Mackie/Houston family, who has been continuously investing since 1885 into the Famous Blacksmiths Shop and the surround area into an iconic destination.
