He explained: “I began as an apprentice at Nithsdale Garage in Dumfries and went on to work at Corrie’s Austin Rover, SMT Vauxhall, and The Dumfries Motor Company 1981 on English Street. I also worked for a time at James Haugh, Castle Douglas.
“It was after I was a service manager for Saab in the early 90s that I started working for myself.”
