Loreburn Housing Welcomes Families to Sustainable New Homes in Lochmaben

Loreburn Housing Association has welcomed six families to their new homes following completion of their Woodlands development in Lochmaben.

These high quality 3 bedroom homes are another stop forward in Loreburn’s commitment to providing energy efficient, sustainable housing for local communities in Dumfries and Galloway.

Developed by RD Nairn Construction, construction began on 30th October 2023 and was handed over on 29th August, with a total contract value of £1,288,000.

The new homes have been designed and built with a strong focus on sustainability, as well as affordability for Loreburn’s tenants. All properties are equipped with air-source heat pumps as the primary heating source, complemented by Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery systems to enhance energy efficiency. Each new home is also fitted with photovoltaic (PV) panels to harness renewable energy.

The high build specification also features triple-glazed windows and an airtightness membrane, delivering enhanced energy performance and reduced carbon

emissions. Measures which not only align with Loreburn’s environmental commitments but also support tenants by lowering energy costs.

Samantha, a tenant moving into one of the homes was very happy with her new home, commenting “I absolutely love our new property and am so thankful to have been offered one.” Alongside the low running costs Samantha and her family were looking forward to enjoying their new home’s modern facilities “The garden is amazing and I love our kitchen and just love the house”

Speaking about the completion, Kirsteen McGinn, Chief Executive at Loreburn added “We’re delighted to welcome tenants to their new homes at Woodlands.

“Affordability is a huge concern for many of our tenants and these homes have been designed to provide both sustainability and comfort at low running costs. The focus on energy efficiency ensures we are meeting the immediate needs of our tenants, while also preparing for the future.

“The new homes offer warmth and comfort, along with the reassurance of long-term affordability—an increasingly important factor in today’s economic climate and amidst the cost of living pressures our tenants continue to face.”
