After several years without a town centre Post Office in Dumfries, Warwick’s Newsagents brings a Post Office counter to Great King Street in Dumfries.
The new facility launched on Tuesday afternoon and Mark Smith, from Dumfries Partnership Action Group, was their first customer, sending a parcel to Hampshire. “It’s exciting to have this essential facility back where it belongs; in the heart of the town centre”, Mark said.
“Recovering valued services is a great step to regenerating our town centre. Everyone needs a post office. Even with some aspects going online, sending letters and parcels is as important as ever. Congratulations, Warwicks, for taking the initiative and being awarded the franchise. It’s this kind of spirit we need, to make Dumfries town centre flourish.”
Warwick’s owner, Eddie Warwick is thrilled too; “We wanted to bring a Post Office back to town and what better street to bring it to, than Great King Street; synonymous with postal services for decades. We want everyone to find our service friendly and convenient and look forward to welcoming lots of customers to the counter, as well as our general newsagents.”
Warwick’s Post Office opened at 1pm on Tuesday 21st November, in 14 Great Kings Street, Dumfries and continues 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am to 12noon on Saturdays.
