Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell has praised the Young’s Scampi Factory based in Annan after a recent visit to the site.
The Annan factory, which provides employment to over 100 locals throughout the region has strong local heritage and is now the largest producer of scampi in the UK.
Mr Mundell was interested to see the operation behind scampi production and left impressed by the commitment Young’s have to developing skills and workforce opportunities both on site and within the wider group.
Commenting on his visit Oliver said: “The Young’s scampi processing plant is a huge asset to Dumfriesshire. It was a delight to meet some of the hardworking staff and see the passion and pride they all hold towards each product that leaves the site.
“It was abundantly clear from touring the factory myself that incredibly high standards are held throughout the facility towards the quality of the final product and the companies commitment to its local heritage left me feeling confident about their future in Annan.
“I am proud to have this factory situated within my constituency and I wish the staff full success in their endeavours and hope the factory continues to thrive.”
