101 Year Old Gatehouse Great Granny Zips Into Action For The NHS

101 Year old Gatehouse of Fleet pensioner Margaret McConchie is hoping to zip Scotland’s Longest Zip wire for NHS Charities because they have selflessly defended us against Covid-19.

Margaret said “Today I turn 101 and over the last 6 weeks, I’ve watched from the confines of my home, how inspiring, resilient and compassionate the NHS and key workers in the UK are.  Day and night, whilst we’ve sheltered inside, they’ve supported our communities and saved lives.

A year ago, I was lucky enough to be surrounded by all my family and friends, celebrating my 100th birthday.  It was a wonderful occasion.  And today, I thought to myself, also inspired by the young Captain Tom 😉 , could I do something to contribute to our society at this extraordinary time.  So I am!

If I raise £1919 (The year I was born) I will fly like a red arrow, down Scotland’s Longest Zip wire, with magnificent views of the Solway horizon.  I’ll do this on a sunny calm day wearing my red lipstick.  It’s just under 1 kilometre long and I believe you can get up to 60 mph – let’s hope it’s not quite that fast.  I walked to the top of the Zip wire, which is behind my house and this is my profile picture.

Please contribute what you are able to, to support this cause.  I’m looking forward to take off and a smooth landing.  #margaretflies101
