On the 11th of March, Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries will be host to a Charity Ball in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The event, organised by Erin Cooper, aims to raise funds and awareness for the ongoing research towards finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Erin Cooper, the event organiser, has a personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease. Her grandmother was diagnosed with the disease when Erin was a teenager, and she saw first-hand how hard her grandmother fought through her journey.
“Currently, there isn’t a cure for Alzheimer’s,” says Erin. “But ARUK is working towards a breakthrough in treatment. I’m organising the ball to raise awareness and funds to help support this process. ”
The event will be a grand affair, with guests treated to a night of dinner, dancing, and entertainment. The evening will begin with a drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner, and an auction. The auction will include some fantastic prizes, including a luxury weekend getaway and a signed football shirt from a local sports legend.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive neurological disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behaviour. It is the most common cause of dementia, affecting over 50 million people worldwide.
