The Glenkens & District Trust has announced an emergency fund in response to thecoronavirus (Covid-19) emergency. £20,000 from the Blackcraig Wind Farm
Community Fund has been allocated to provide emergency funding for local charities
and grassroots community groups who are supporting some of the most vulnerable in
our communities at this time.
The Blackcraig Wind Farm Community Fund can provide immediate funding to
support constituted community groups and charities that are responding to the
coronavirus pandemic in their local community with grants of over £500 focused on
immediate community needs. The Blackcraig Community Wind Farm Covid-19
Emergency Fund will complement the array of support which is now available through
nationally funded measures by working in a ‘hyper-local’ way responding to local need
which encourages a coordinated approach with other key local partners and statutory
services.
Foundation Scotland who are administering the Fund on behalf of Blackcraig Wind
Farm (Scotland) Ltd, are working to turn around funding applications swiftly, and to
keep the application process straightforward with a typical turnaround of 72 hours
from application to payment. Applications must be made online

Fiona Smith, Chairman of The Glenkens & District Trust said “These are difficult and
uncertain times for us all, and we wanted to do something to address the immediate
needs of the community. We are aware that there are now a number of funds
providing support which groups can apply to but felt that we were well placed to
complement these by providing support for immediate needs. We know our
communities are reacting quickly to provide support and our Blackcraig Fund can do
the same.”
Emma Goodlad, of Foundation Scotland, said: “It’s heartening to see GDT Trustees
keen to adapt their processes in the face of this awful situation facing all
communities. Everyone is very keen to ensure that activity being provided by groups
on the ground has the opportunity to apply to this Emergency Fund.”
