On Thursday evening (October the 10th, 2019) the team behind the highly succesful Castle Douglas Soap Box Derby gave a huge thank you to the team behind Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities for all their help and support that they gave with the 2019 Soap Box Derby held on King Street, Castle Douglas back in July.
Matt McKerlie from the CSBD team told DGWGO “We wanted to say thank you to the Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities team for providing us with tannoys and power generators for our track. It was great to see two towns coming together for the greater good of our region. Our small gesture of a donation £150 is our way to say thanks for the support.”
John Blaikie from Kirkcudbright Summer festivities said “We were happy to help out and will be very pleased to help the Castle Douglas Soap Box derby again next year! It is good to have connections with each town and help each other out.”
Over 5000 people attended the Soap Box Derby held on King Street Castle Douglas in July, when 24 teams competed to see who had built the best and fastest kart. The huge success of the event has inspired the team of organisers to hold another Soap box Derby in the town in 2020.
