DH9 FOUNDATION GIVE SUMMERPARK RESIDENTS FREE DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING

On the evening of Tuesday 15th April 2025, a training course was delivered to 18 residents of Summerpark by the charity, DH9 Foundation.

The DH9 Foundation was set up by Lesley and Rodger Hill in the memory of their son David (30) who sadly passed away during a rugby match from an undiagnosed heart condition.

The Summerpark Community Association was set up by Dale Graham and Pamela Wright, both residents of Summerpark, to raise awareness of CPR and fundraise for defibrillators to be installed within the development.

The development now has 3 Defibrillators installed with more to come.

After a meeting with Phil Cubbin (headteacher) the association has also recently taken responsibility for the Dumfries High School’s new Defibrillator. This ensuring it’s kept maintained with new pads and batteries at no cost to the school’s budget.

DH9 can be found on Facebook and as a registered charity (SC053821), is providing free training to groups or organisations. Donations to DH9 are most welcome to ensure they can continue their marvellous work.

Local resident Gillian Sturrock after being trained stated

“Thank you for organising! Really informative….. well delivered, covered key points….. covered points I didn’t know/remember as it’s been such a long time since my last course!
I do now feel I could confidently operate one of these! (Defibrillator)

I would highly recommend one of these events to anyone!

An hour at this wee training session could help save a life!

Thanks again!

SCA Chairman Dale Graham also stated

“This was a fabulous event, although recently trained by Nith Inshore Rescue I found this short course a great refresher. I am blown away by the story of Rodger and Leslie Hill in setting up the charity. They are amazing people with, pardon the pun, a massive heart and clearly really care about making a difference. A course well worth your time”
