Kempleton Cars, who are based at Tongland, Kirkcudbright, recently contacted DGWGO to ask if we could highlight their concerns over missing digital service history with cars coming in for a service.
We went along to meet up with Eric Mciiwraith who said “Yes, just of late, when people have been coming into the garage with their cars to get servicing done, we’re discovering that some cars have no digital service record history.”
“This has two knock-on effects, one that the customer doesn’t actually know what has been done or not been done in the car but two, which I think is the most alarming part, is that when you come to sell your vehicle on.”

‘Potentially costing you hundreds if not thousands of pounds’
Eric continued “So, you go into a garage and the salesman says full service history? You assume that to be a yes. So he checks and discovers that there have been no records kept, potentially costing you hundreds if not thousands of pounds. If you really want to adhere to your main dealer’s recommendations take your new car to get the service and then I think you must command and demand of them to show you exactly what has been done by a paper copy.”
