Dumfriesshire Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell made a nostalgic visit back to the site of his old school on Friday.
The former Lockerbie Academy pupil was invited to perform the official opening ceremony at a new housing development where his old classrooms once stood
A total of 45 new houses and flats for rent have been built for Cunninghame Housing Association to create what is now known as Academy Place.
The homes are located next to the replacement current Lockerbie Academy campus.
Mr Mundell, who was joined by Dumfries and Galloway Council housing convener Cllr. Archie Dryburgh, unveiled a plaque and expressed delight at the new development.
“It’s brought back many happy memories,” said Mr Mundell, “and I’m pleased the land has been put to such good use — creating carefully designed new homes for Lockerbie.”
He later joined other guests at the official launch of the Lockerbie Old School community hub project, located in the near-by Victorian-built former Dryfesdale School, which is being developed in partnership with Cunninghame.
