Fun Day In The Sun For Kelloholm Families

Families in Kelloholm enjoyed a fun day out thanks to the region’s largest housing association.

Wheatley Homes South put on a range of activities including face painting held for all the family to enjoy, while staff were on hand to meet customers.

Staff were able to advise about Wheatley’s range of wraparound support services, including fuel and benefit advice, as well as other agencies locally who can provide support.

Families also found out about programmes from the Wheatley Foundation, Wheatley’s charitable arm, including the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children under five, as well as delivering employment and training opportunities.

Wheatley’s Neighbourhood Environmental Team, which helps keep the region’s communities clean and tidy, were also in attendance and carried out a community litter pick.

Green-fingered young people took part in planting sessions delivered by the Wheatley Foundation’s Greener Communities programme, which aims to raise awareness of environmental issues for customers and delivers sessions to help tackle climate change.

Alex Lamb, Managing Director at Wheatley Homes South, said: “It was great to see so many of the local community come out for this fun day.
“This event was a great chance for families to spend time together but also an important opportunity for Wheatley to engage with our customers and for them to see the range of services we provide.
“It was also a great opportunity for families to find out about the support we deliver, whether that’s providing books to children under five through to benefit and fuel advice.”

Any Wheatley customer who would like to find out more about the support available to them should speak to their housing officer or contact Wheatley Homes South’s Customer First Centre on 0800 011 3447.
