Gretna Green Welcomes Paddy McGuinness During 300-Mile Charity Ride for Children in Need

Gretna Green, the family-owned wedding, hospitality, retail, and experience destination, was honoured to welcome Paddy McGuinness to the historic Old Toll Bar, known as the first and last house in Scotland, on Day 3 of his 300-mile charity ride for BBC’s Children in Need.

Arriving at Gretna Green to the sound of bagpipes and a gathering of enthusiastic supporters, Paddy McGuinness was greeted with cheers. During a live BBC2 broadcast from the Old Toll Bar, Sir Tom Hunter of the Hunter Foundation announced an extraordinary pledge to match donations up to £2 million, bringing Mr. McGuinness to tears. After sharing this inspiring news with the crowd, he joined the Gretna Green team and supporters for photos and warm exchanges.

John Holliday, Chairman of Gretna Green, commented, “This visit highlighted both Mr. McGuinness’s unwavering commitment and the enduring charitable spirit that unites us all. We wish him continued strength as he completes this inspirational journey.”
