Irish Themed Afternoon Of Music, Song And Dance Enjoyed At Locharbriggs

Locharbriggs Community Centre was packed to capacity and green was the colour for the Irish, music afternoon on Sunday 23rd March. The attendance exceeded all expectations and had a massive crowd of 171 (including committee and helpers)

Everyone enjoyed great music from regular Locharbriggs Community Centre events musicians William McRobert and George Meikle on accordions with Ian McRobert on drums.

John Caskie, Centre chairman, kept the afternoon moving along nicely with Irish and Scottish songs, and a few Irish themed jokes that kept the gathering entertained and laughing along, while guest artiste Gwen Adair sang some lovely Irish songs accompanied by William and George, due to Lee McQueen being injured and unable to play (hope the hand heals soon Lee)

Attendees were offered Guinness (alcohol or alcohol free), Irish Whiskey or soft drinks before and during the afternoon, while homemade Irish decorated cupcakes, shortbread and biscuits were served with hot drinks at the interval.

A massive raffle of over 70 prizes, all donated was drawn, before the music, song and dance continued through to the end of the afternoon.

John Caskie thanked the LCCA committee and the volunteer helpers for their hard work, and also thanked William, George, Ian, and Gwen for their contribution to a great afternoon.

Mrs Moira Shearer on behalf of all thanked John Caskie and his hard-working committee for all their attention to detail making it a fantastic afternoon.

After all receipts for entertainers and catering had been paid, including private donations, £801 has been raised for LCCA at today’s event.

A great amount and one the, LCCA committee are grateful to everyone for.
