A group of teachers Langholm and Canonbie Schools are running in the Great North Run on Sunday for children’s charity NSPCC.
The NSPCC is the leading children’s charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK. They help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.
In March this year, Headteacher of the Cluster of Schools, Ms Lauren McLean approached her staff with a fitness challenge, to run the Great North Run, in aid of the NSPCC.
She shared, “At Langholm and Canonbie schools we strive to teach our pupils that leading healthy lifestyles and focussing on physical and mental health is important to help achieve academic success. We are continually inspired by our pupils taking part and succeeding in a range of sporting activities, and decided that signing up for the Great North Run would be a fantastic way of us all getting fit, whilst supporting a vital children’s charity which is close to our hearts.”
Teachers from all 3 schools have been supporting each other over the last 6 months to train, and are looking forward to crossing that finish line on Sunday.
