To celebrate and raise awareness Dumfries and Galloway customer services and libraries have been holding events for Fairtrade fortnight. These sessions provided a warm welcome to regular customers, visitors and community groups to have a Fairtrade cuppa, a chat and an opportunity to share stories of days gone by.
The events featured displays of old photographs which everyone can access at our online website ‘ViewDumfriesandGalloway’ and library “Let’s Talk” bags which are designed to spark conversation.
Councillor Andy Ferguson, Chairman of Communities Committee said;
“The library “Let’s Talk” bags are a fantastic resource and contain different materials that encourage discussion. They contain photographs and artefacts which prompt memories. They have been used by Residential Homes for use with clients in group settings.”
Councillor John Martin, Vice Chairman of Communities Committee said;
“Fairtrade fortnight is of great importance to Dumfries and Galloway Council and we as a council are committed to supporting Fairtrade and using Fairtrade products.”
There were a number of gatherings organised by the Council (pictured here the event happening in Georgetown) and celebrated with Fairtrade refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
