A Dumfries based charity has been presented with a nationally recognised Volunteer Friendly Award.
SHAX is based at The Crichton in Dumfries and has been working towards the award since last year.
The organisation provides practical help to people facing crisis through poverty and/or homelessness, as well as a chance of volunteering and work placement.
The quality standard is designed to support, recognise and reward groups who are good at involving volunteers and is based on the national standard Investing in Volunteers.
Joyce Harkness, Social Enterprise Manager at SHAX, said: “We’re tremendously pleased to be able to formally acknowledge the support we give to our terrific volunteers. The award process was very helpful in assisting SHAX to review our volunteer support policies and tools and will help SHAX improve our volunteer programme in the future.”
