The outbreak of Covid-19/Coronavirus is causing disruption to services, both essential and non-essential across Dumfries and Galloway
In response, Volunteer Dumfries and Galloway – part of Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway – has agreed to help fast track volunteers to help organisations with demand.

A Spokesperson for Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway stated “A growing number of people are now stepping forward to help in their communities, in any way they can.
If you are not a current volunteer but would like to help, firstly, think can you help elderly or vulnerable neighbours in any way? A simple act can be vital in a time like this.
Check on your neighbours, especially anyone who may live alone, the elderly or potentially vulnerable. If someone is self-isolating or unable to get out for whatever reason – there are practical yet vital tasks you can do:
• Collect a prescription or over the counter medications that may be needed.
• Deliver and replenish food stocks.
• A simple daily phone call to ask how they are doing.
• Taking their bins out on bin day.It is often the little acts of kindness that have the most impact and there are many more.
If you want to help the wider community, we are working with third sector organisations and public sector partners to help coordinate the volunteer effort.
Once you have filled out the form, we will aim to match your details with an organisation or volunteer drive in need of help. Together in Dumfries and Galloway we can help those most in need.”
