Gracefield Art Centre, Dumfries’ two current exhibitions at explore photography in all its many techniques and subject matter. The Dumfries Camera Club Annual Exhibition is now on in Gallery 1 and the Jill Todd Photographic Award which showcases the work of recent graduates in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, can be seen in Gallery 2. If you are interested in taking pictures, Dumfries Camera Club Members will be on hand to chat about the work in their show and share their photography experience. If you need help with any aspect of your camera bring it along with the handbook on Easter Saturday 26 March for advice.
There will also be lots of family fun to be had beginning on Good Friday 25 March with the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, and then on Saturday 26 March join us for the family fun day. We will be holding free art taster sessions including egg painting and mini canvases in the studios, quizzes and colouring, with the egg hunt quiz continuing in the grounds. For the older children and adults, artist Pamela Grace will be running taster sessions in the Printmaking workshop, so you can see the different techniques and have a go at some etching yourself (the 1 hour slots are bookable at a cost of £2 per person).
We’re offing a 10% discount in our Craft Shop and a free prize draw to win an original print, plus Café Hubbub will offering some Easter treats to tempt your taste buds.
Community and Customer Services Councillor, Tom McAughtrie commented: “This sounds like a creative, fun day out, with something for everyone – we hope you can make it along and enjoy one of our best local facilities”.
