Two funding streams are now available in Dumfries and Galloway for arts projects that involve the community and professional artists looking to develop their work.
DG Unlimited has over £20,000 to enable artists to further their creative practice through professional development opportunities, and assist community groups in getting more people in their local areas involved in arts activities.
Past projects to have received backing include Kirkcudbright Art and Craft Trail’s travelling time machine that had visitors of all ages transfixed at their event in August. a poetry collection led by Hugh McMillan sharing memories of the lost buildings of Dumfries and a community mosaics garden project at Kate’s Kitchen in Annan.
Cathy Agnew, Chair of DG Unlimited, commented, “It’s been fantastic to see the impact of the funding we’ve provided. For example, Moniaive-based musician Stuart Macpherson undertook research work at Caerlaverock on the migration of barnacle geese from Norway. This development work has led to an application to Creative Scotland for more significant funding for the next phase of the project.
“We’d like applications from every corner of the region so that we can continue to support the projects and artists that make Dumfries and Galloway a great place to live and work.”
Applications can be made at any time with a four-week turnaround on decisions. The final deadline for applications is 25th February next year.
