The winners of the 2024 Guid Nychburris photo competition, where followers, and supporters of Guid Nychburris are asked to submit any photograph they had taken, at any event, during Guid Nychburris week were announced earlier this month.
Once again this year there were two categories for seniors and juniors, under 16 years of age.
Members of Loreburn Camera Club judged the competition and chose the winners.
After a large entry was received for, both categories, the judges did eventually decide on the winners.
Mary Gibson with her photo of the Principals arriving at the Mid Steeple on Guid Nychburris day won the senior prize,
while Lucas Clingan aged 9 won the junior trophy with his photo of Cornet Ross Boyd during the Cornets Chase at Park Farm.
Mary and Lucas received their trophies from 2024 Queen of the South Lucy Galligan and Cornet Ross Boyd prior to the recent Guid Nychburris Executive Committee. Along with their trophies, they keep for the year, Mary and Lucas received their Guid Nychburris Rosettes and a gift for winning.
John Caskie Guid Nychburris Chairman congratulated Mary and Lucas on their fine photos capturing the excitement that Guid Nychburris brings to the town, John also thanked members of Loreburn Camera Club for Judging.
The Guid Nychburris Festival Association will host their 2024 AGM on Tuesday 8th October from 7pm at The Municipal Chambers Dumfries. W
With some members of the GNFA deciding to retire at the AGM the association are on the look out for new members to come on board and be part of the team. The AGM is open to all members of the public and everyone attending will be accorded a warm welcome.
