Student artists at Dumfries and Galloway College have used an unfortunate setback to benefit others following the cancellation of their exhibition.
The generous HND Art & Design students have used the interruption of their anticipated Pathway show to donate the money they had raised to charity.
Charity Frank Hayes – For Enjoyment and a local foodbank will receive half of the £235.16 raised each and have thanked the students for their kindness.
Pathway was scheduled to run between 2-9 May 2020 with support from Gracefield Arts Centre, Holywood Trust, The Crichton Trust, and Dumfries and Galloway Fine Arts Society but has been cancelled as part of the effort to combat COVID-19 in the South of Scotland.
Dumfries and Galloway College is proud of the relationships that its students and staff have developed with local charities and other organisations that allow the college to play its valuable role in the region.
Principal Joanna Campbell said: “I am extremely proud of our HND Art & Design students who have managed to turn this unfortunate set of circumstances into something so positive.
“These two worthy causes will use this money to continue their vital work and help those who need it.
“These students embody the spirit of community and altruism that makes our college community the kind and warm place that it is.”
