Wasps x Kirkcudbright Galleries celebrates the best of Scotland’s Creative Community

Kirkcudbright Galleries continues their partnership with Wasps to present a stunning exhibition featuring the works of over fifty Wasps studio holders from across the country. Wasps x Kirkcudbright Galleries celebrates the best of Scotland’s largest creative community.

Wasps was founded to provide good quality, affordable studio space to enable artists and creative organisations to flourish in their work.

Wasps has been supporting the arts community for over four decades and has grown to become the UK’s largest studio provider. They currently house approximately 1000 artists and creators and 33 creative organisations, at 20 sites across Scotland.

Wasps x Kirkcudbright Galleries brings together an eclectic mix of contemporary styles and mediums. There are several works for sale spanning various kinds of technique such as painting, jewellery, sculpture, and ceramics. This exhibition is entirely unique as Kirkcudbright Galleries is currently the only venue globally which brings together a selection of Wasp tenants to display their works in a collective exhibition. On display now until Sunday 4 th June, the exhibition is a colourful exploration of approaches which offers the chance to purchase artwork by Scotland’s largest creative community.

Speaking of the collaboration between the two arts’ organisations, Chair of Dumfries & Galloway Council’s Communities Committee Ian Blake comments “This new exhibition is special in that it shows the Galleries continued endeavours to make accessible high-quality exhibitions for the region, which will attract interest both locally and nationwide. This latest collaboration with Wasps showcases the quality of artwork and skill that Scottish artists are producing”.

Vice Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Communities Committee Jackie McCamon has said:

“Kirkcudbright Galleries are currently hosting Wasps x Kirkcudbright Galleries.

This exhibition hosts a number of artists’ that are producing high quality pieces from across the whole of Scotland. There are over fifty on show but to name a few are: …Yelena Visemirska, Lizzie Farey, Martin Irish, Maureen Rocksmoore, Brian Craig, Katy Quinn, Ally Wallace and James Murphy… The range of mediums and techniques in the works that are for sale is impressive and there’s something for everyone in here. This exhibition is a real treat for locals and visitors alike to enjoy this spring.”

Wasps CEO Audrey Carlin has said of the Wasps x Kirkcudbright show: “Wasps is delighted to be working with Kirkcudbright Galleries to stage this exhibition showcasing the talent of artists from all across Scotland within the setting of the world-famous Artists’ Town. We’ll have work from over fifty artists – painters, sculptors, silversmiths and printmakers among them – representing the best of Scotland’s creative talent and the thousand talented artists that call Wasps their artistic home.
