South West Media Factory, are looking for young people (19-26 years) in the region who are keen to learn about filmmaking. A first meeting has been arranged at the Stove on Saturday 26 April from 2-5 pm, to kick-start ideas and start planning.
SWMF already work with an after-school group at the Stove, Dumfries, on Monday afternoons, but plan to set up a group of over 19 year olds who have left school, to work on their own short film. It’s free to participants, and open to anyone 26 years or under working full-time, part-time, unemployed, or at college. It’s open across the region and SWMF will co-ordinate production work around their availability.
“We are keen that no-one misses out on this opportunity”, said Belle Doyle, co-director of SWMF. “We are looking for creative people, of course, but we also need people with good organisational skills. No filmmaking experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm and willingness to learn.”
SWMF plan to shoot the short film in August, with plans for developing more short film projects for the rest of the year. Anyone interested in joining the group should e-mail [email protected].
SWMF are also setting up a regular screenwriters’ group for anyone of any age and experience keen to learn about screenwriting, or who want to develop their idea into a short film. There is a meeting by Zoom planned for Thursday 1st May from 6-8 pm. For more information, e-mail [email protected] or look for the SWMF page on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/SWMediaFactory.
