Last Fridays ‘Not To Be Sold Separately’ opening evening was a hard hitting mix of cultural satire ft. reflective outlooks on subjects such as self-reflection, drug abuse, gender issues, body image, and environmentalism.
The regions successful touring exhibition hit the high street with a gracefully outspoken “bang”. Featuring performances of The Elevator Drug-Counsellors as well as a hard hitting spoken word act by poet Rhiannon Dawn Dewar, the night proved that the Dumfries artistic talent is now hurtling into motion at full speed.
Now ready to speak openly through art, the young creatives of the town can hopefully change our community for the better. The work itself has explored a wide range of media and styles including glass work, textiles, portraiture, sculptural figurative pieces, performance art, and even an electronic magazine which can be downloaded directly to your phone!
Local visual artist and community counsellor Louisa Longways attended the open evening and commented, saying:
“It was actually quite remarkable to witness so many fabulous artists doing their thing. These folks have tons of imagination up their sleeves and I’m eager to see what they do next!”
The exhibition is now open to the public on Tuesdays to Saturdays, At The Stove ,Dumfries 10AM – 4PM, until the 25th of September.
See you there at Stove, 100 High St, Dumfries…
