April the 28th see’s the 10th and final Galloway Thistle Youth Football Club charity fundraiser night. Since launching these charity events back in 2008 the team have raised over £85,000 for good causes, and with this being their final fundraiser they are hoping to break the £100,000 barrier.
Ex Galloway thistle coach Jason Adair told DGWGO “In 2008 whilst being a coach for Galloway Thistle Youth FC I had the idea of our club giving back to the public by ways of holding a charity night and raising funds to help many local causes.
The first night in 2008 saw us have a band called GIMME ABBA to entertain us with all the classic hits and since then we have never looked back and have raised almost £85,000 which has gone to the likes of MacMillan Nurses, Yorkhill Sick Kids, Help for Heroes, MS UK, Alzheimers Scotland, Autism UK and loads of other local causes.”
Jason continued “We have also handed over multiple Ipads, computer games and Laptops to local sick kids, handed over gifts to our local Hospital and even sent families in need to Lapland at Christmas.”
In an emotional moment Jason told us how the funds had helped a dying father with his wife and kids to meet his footballing hero’s the Rangers team. Sadly he died shortly after aged only in his early 40’s.
Jason Said “This year is sadly our final event so we are going to try make the magical £100,000. We will be donating to MacMillan plus donating defibrillators for the use of the public in local areas such as main streets and housing schemes.“
There is a fundraising raffle and an £18,000 POD which has a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom is the top prize. This magnificent prize will be built to the winners specification in whichever area of the uk the winner chooses.
The way to enter this draw is to donate on the just giving page HERE. For every £10 you get a draw ticket and you get every 3rd one free,so £20 gets you 3 chances to win.
