POLICE SCOTLAND have stated today (May 19th) that a 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a fire in the old Convent at Maxwell Street, Dumfries on Tuesday, 16 May, 2023.
Scottish Fire and Rescue battled to control the blaze in the 138 year old building, which had also been damaged by a fire a few months previously.
A Police spokesperson stated ” A report will be sent to the relevant authorities.
All roads have now reopened. The building is currently cordoned off and officers remain at the scene to ensure public safety.”
