Secondary school students from all over Scotland attended the National Burns World Federation school championships on Saturday 26 April at Prestwick Academy.
Qualifying students competed in their relevant age groups in all manner of Burns recitation, music and singing. The S1/S2 singing section was won by Dumfries and Galloway’s Alyth Ross from Lochmaben who sang her own folk interpretation of Green Grow the Rashes whilst accompanying herself on guitar. Alyth attends Lockerbie Academy and hopes to continue with her singing and own songwriting in the future.
