The Wickersnapper, an annual competition to find a talented young photographer to help document the Wickerman Festival, was won this year by Glenn Moonie. Glenn has kindly wrote a few words for DGWGO about the whole experience and allowed us to share some of his images.
As well as some great shots of the acts – Glenn also managed to really capture the feel and spirit of the festival and his Facebook album includes many images of the crowd.
You can view many more of Glenn’s images on his Facebook Page and Facebook Album.

Names Glenn, I’m originally from Annan and moved to Dumfries about 3 and a half years ago. I’ve taken pictures pretty much my whole life but about 3 years ago I decided to invest in my first DLSR and it was the best thing I ever did.
I first heard about the Wickersnapper comp on DGWGO on Twitter…so I instantly checked it out, read up about the competition and submitted some photos for my entry. I honestly didn’t expect I would get anywhere near winning so when I got the phone call to say I had won I was totally buzzing!
I got the call at lunch time at work and could hardly concentrate at work all that afternoon. The experience was absolutely brilliant, to be able to go to a festival and experience it through the lens was a whole new experience! So many good highlights from the whole weekend, it was great to hook up and work with the Skiddle team, made some new photography friends and was able to try and put my artistic touch to some of my shots was just Brilliant!
