A Dumfries events initiative is seeking to expand its annual programme by offering town businesses a cash incentive.
The Emerge Agency, which co-ordinates the annual In Our Town – a two-month-long programme of free events and family entertainment targeted at town centre audiences – will give three businesses a total of £500 each towards the costs of laying on an entertainment event that will benefit the town centre and bring in footfall during the festivities.
Co-ordinator Peter Renwick said: “We want to make sure that, so far as possible this year, the In Our Town programme benefits Dumfries retailers.
“We want to see what kind of ideas are out there and hope that retailers will get involved as much as possible in providing free entertainment and events for families both from the area and outside.
“This is why we will pay the costs of running an event over the next two months, up to the value of £500, to three of the best ideas.”
The event could take the form of musical entertainment, workshops or any kind of family orientated activity.
