A701 DUMFRIES TO MOFFAT ROAD CLOSED AT BURRANCE FOR £120,000 REPAIRS FROM MAY 8th 11th

£120k maintenance scheme on A701 Burrance

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland will carry out resurfacing works on the A701 beside Burrance of Courance Farm, near Harestanes Windfarm beginning Friday 8 May.

The works will see almost 1km of the North and Southbound carriageway resurfaced over one weekend; benefiting almost 20,000 motorists who use this route each day.

More than £4.5 million has been invested in Dumfries and Galloway’s roads in the last 12 months alone with this being the latest in this area of historical importance.

Gordon Wilson, contract director for Scotland TranServ said:
“This vital maintenance scheme will improve this busy section of the A701 at Burrance for local residents, commercial businesses and motorists for years to come.

“Although work is programmed for over the weekend when traffic flows are lighter, some disruption is inevitable and I thank the local community and motorists for their patience while we carry out these essential works.”

To ensure the safety of roadworkers, local residents and motorists the work will be carried out under a total closure from 7.00pm Friday 8 May until 6.00am on Monday 11 May.

• A diversion will be in place via:Northbound – A75, A709, B7076
• Southbound – B7076, A709, A75

In Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland TranServ has subcontracted its roads maintenance and winter services to DG First which maintains over 260 kilometres of south west Scotland’s trunk road network stretching from Gretna to Stranraer, Dumfries to Beattock & Dumfries to Kirkconnel.
