Almost 70 per cent of Dumfries and Galloway’s adult population have received their first COVID-19 vaccination.
Meanwhile, almost a quarter of the adult population have received their second dose, which provides them with the highest and longest lasting degree of protection against the coronavirus.
A total of 86,689 first dose vaccinations have been delivered and 29,376 second doses – for a total of 116,056 vaccinations by end of April 6 2021.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway Chief Executive Jeff Ace said: “It’s very important that everyone takes up the opportunity to get two doses of the vaccine – at the point in time when it is offered.
“Getting both doses helps provide everyone with the highest degree of protection against the coronavirus. It also helps to increase the defences within our communities, and paves the way for moves towards something more like normal life.”
