POLICE Officers in Dumfries want to trace the following described two females following the theft of a purse from the Granary retirement flats in Glebe Street in Dumfries. Sometime around 3.05pm on Wednesday 7 March 2018 the two females appear to have gained entry to the building, and then to the flat of an 85 year old woman, purporting to be there to discuss the caring arrangements for the lady. After the two left the flat, the lady noticed that her purse had been stolen, which contained cash and bank and credit cards. The lady reported the matter to staff within the building and police attended.
Constable Sandy Currie at Dumfries said “this was a disgusting distraction type theft on an elderly victim in her own home. The two we want to trace in relation to this matter are described as follows, (1) female, early 20s, either Asian/Mediterranean appearance, about 5’5″ tall, dark hair and was described as hard faced. She was wearing a dark brown jacket which had a hood, and she spoke in broken English. (2) female, only described as similar Asian/Mediterranean appearance and slightly older than the first one. We want to hear from anyone who may have been about the Glebe Street area yesterday and saw anything suspicious, or can help identify these two females. Anyone with any information should call us at Dumfries on the 101 number, quoting reference PDG0047870318.”
