Dumfries and Galloway Autism Network are holding a Post-16 Tranisitions event in the former ‘Baker’s Oven in Dumfries on Tuesday 21 November.
The event will take place between 1.30pm and 6.30pm. A range of post school providers such as Dumfries and Galloway College, the Council’s employability Service and various partners will be there to tell parents, Carers and the young people what options may be open to them after school.
Councillor Jeff Leaver Chairman of Children, Young People and Lifelong Learning Committee said “Leaving school is a massive step for all young people and this is a great opportunity for the families and the young people with autism to find out might be out there for them after school. The range of opportunities is gradually improving as time goes by and this is a chance to talk to the providers to help them decide what they might do”
Councillor Ros Surtrees Vice-Chairman of Children, Young People and Lifelong Learning Committee added: “Although the audience is aimed at a specific group, anyone is welcome to drop by because this will be a drop-in event and there is no need to book – just call in.”
