AWARD WINNING YOUNG MECHANICS SAMPLE MOTORING AS IT WAS 86 YEARS AGO.

Part of Kirkcudbright Academy 2017 prize giving day Awards are made  to the students obtaining the highest level of achievement throughout the year.

In Mechanics, the school has run a course,  which provides the first steps to membership of The Institute of Motor Industries, an internationally recognised qualification in this field of engineering.

This years winner Ryan Cochrane was presented with a certificate and a lifetime guaranteed tool set by The President of The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright, Mr. Chris Ingram, along with an achievement medal presented by Academy Tutor Mr. Alastair Miller.

After a celebratory run in a 1931 ALVIS, Ryan was also awarded the Academy Spark Plug Trophy at the Cochran Hall prize giving ceremony.

Second place this year went to Frazer Potts who because of his high level of achievement also received from Rotary a lifetime guaranteed tool set.

Runner up, Joel Hardy, received his certificate and medal and has been successful in achieving a placement as an apprentice.

Dumfries College Mechanics Course Tutor Matthew Howitt along with Academy Tutor Alastair Miller selected the winners. Alistair also thanked The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright for their support for all the young mechanics throughout the year.
