Missing person search – Ringford
Police Scotland report that the search for missing local man David Porter from High Barcaple, Ringford, has been stood down after the discovery of a body in the woods near to the farm.
Inspector Stephen Stiff of Police Scotland said “Searches across the area surrounding High Barcaple have been ongoing since Wednesday evening using recourses from Police Scotland, the Galloway and Moffat Mountain Rescue Teams, the Coastguard, and with helicopter assistance from RN Gannet.
This morning the body of a man was found in woodland by one of the search teams. The family of Mr Porter have been made aware and a formal identification is to take place. The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.”
