The Staff at Boot’s Pharmacy at Gardenhill Health Centre in Castle Douglas recently raised £636 for Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes by raffling a luxury hamper made up of items donated by themselves. Boots will add a further £500 to this via their fund matching scheme.
The pharmacy staff met Tom a volunteer from D&G Blood Bikes and his Bike today finding out more about the work of the blood bike volunteers. The Bllod Bike charity provides an out of hours service to the NHS, transporting lifesaving medical supplies between hospitals in Dumfries & Galloway and beyond.
Danni Anderson presenting the hamper which was won by Ewan Hitchell of Dalbeattie & 2nd prize of a barbeque pack went to Michele Kerr of Castle Douglas.
Pharmacist manager Leigh Riddell told DGWGO “We like to support a local cause at least once a year and all agreed that supporting the D&G Blood Bikes was ideally aligned to our community healthcare goals and does life changing work right across our region which is all carried out by volunteers.”
