CASTLE DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL WINS OVERALL BUSINESS AWARD FOR YOUNG ENTERPRISE.

 

Castle Diningthe Local Young Enterprise Company from Castle Douglas High School has scooped the top prize for young entrepreneurs in Dumfries and Galloway. Pupils from Castle Douglas High School won the overall award for the best business in The Young Enterprise Scotland Dumfries & Galloway Finals, held at Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries onTuesday 31st March 2015.

Castle Douglas High School who called their company Castle Dining, were one of thirteen teams from Dumfries & Galloway Region who were taking part at the finals.

Castle Diningproduced a cook book that represents Castle Douglas “Food Town”. They sold them locally within the School and Dumfries Christmas Market.

Alistair Berry, Managing Director, Castle Dining,said during their presentation “From the outset our overall goal was to create a profitable product that would fly the flag for our town. To do this we knew our product had to link closely with Castle Douglas whilst at the same time be unique and of a high quality.

Castle Diningwill now represent Dumfries and Galloway in the Scottish Young Enterprise Finals at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow on June 17th 2015.

Presenting the award to the Castle Dining, John Grierson, Site Director at Magnox Ltdsaid: “Young Enterprise provides young people in Dumfries and Galloway with a wonderful opportunity to show Entrepreneurship and develop their business potential”

Kenny Bowie, Chairman of Dumfries and Galloway Young Enterprise Board said “The standard of entry was especially high this year, without doubt, down to the enormous amount of hard work and commitment shown by the Pupils, Link Teachers, Company Advisors and Local Board Members. Our support is very much an investment in the Regions future, and we could well see many of those taking part emerging as Scotland’s business leaders in years to come. I also thank the local Businesses that continue to support Young Enterprise,”

Castle Dining also won awards for Best Trade Stand and Junior Quality Award
