Producers of Scottish Pâté, Castle MacLellan has surprised two local beneficiaries with donations totaling to £135,000 this week.
The two chosen charities, Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association & Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, have been nominated by Castle MacLellan’s team of over 100 employees.
The beneficiaries believed they were attending Castle MacLellan to pitch for further funding, but little did they know they would all be presented with a sizeable cheque on the day.
Alongside its sister company Primula Cheese, Castle MacLellan donates all profits to good causes regionally and around the world via their owner the Kavli Trust, offering employees the chance to nominate charitable organisations in the region which they have a close affinity to.
The total donations for the charities can be found below:
- Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association – £60,000
- Galloway Mountain Rescue Team – £75,000
Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association provides a variety of care services for people with mental health concerns across the region. Castle MacLellan’s donation will be used to fund refurbishments and purchase new equipment for the charity’s shops, as well as mindfulness benches in several locations with information on their services and mental health in general.
Galloway Mountain Rescue Team is a team of skilled, highly-trained volunteers who provide extensive search and rescue services across the Dumfries & Galloway and South Ayrshire region. Funding will go towards acquiring a breadth of new equipment, including a new ‘all-weather’ drone and a rescue raft.
Commenting on the donation, Sam Warren, Operations Manager at Castle MacLellan, said: “We are delighted to be surprising two fantastic beneficiaries with a donation totaling £135,000 this December.
“Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis and its effect on businesses, we felt it was only right to increase the amount we donated earlier in the year, ensuring those who need it most are well looked after. We’ve donated to two more fantastic local charities this year, chosen by our team, who were keen to make sure the impact of the donations can be felt here in our region.
“At Castle MacLellan, supporting our local community is at the heart of what we do, which is why we donate all our profits to good causes. All of our team are proud to see the money donated go directly towards helping and supporting our local communities.”
Over the past 10 years, the Scottish food producer has donated over £648,000 to over 30 local organisations and charities through the Kavli Trust, supporting tens of thousands of those most in need across South West Scotland.
Castle MacLellan also surprised three local charities earlier this year with a donation totaling £105,000.
The Kavli Trust is responsible for over £3 million in donations to good causes in 2022, supporting communities nationwide and across the world.
