The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two cats were abandoned at the side of a road.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Monday evening (30
March) when the felines were found in separate pet carriers next to the
A76 between New Cumnock and Kelloholm.
The cats are now in the care of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Ayrshire, where they have been named Pitter and Patter.
Animal rescue officer Lauren Graham said, “One of the cats is a black female and the other is a tabby male.
“They were left in separate pet carriers, one blue with a green handle and the other white, grey and purple. One had a broken door and blue tape had been used to try and secure it.
“Pitter and Patter were understandably very frightened and we are keen to hear from anyone who recognises them and can help us find out who is responsible for dumping them like rubbish.
“We’ll look after these lovely cats until we can find them a new home.”
Abandoning and causing an animal unnecessary suffering animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
