CLIMATE change and the recent United Nations COP26 Conference were a hot topic at Canonbie Primary School on Friday.
The guest speaker was local MP and former Scottish Secretary David Mundell, who was a delegate at the major international event hosted by the UK Government in Glasgow last month.
During his afternoon in school, Mr Mundell spoke separately to younger and older pupils on the subject and chaired lively question and answer sessions.
He said afterwards: “I was impressed by the pupils’ depth of knowledge on the subject and their searching questions. Their interest in the issue is clear and understandable as they are from a generation which will be most affected by some of the decisions currently being made.”
Pupils at Canonbie have been studying the subject and are also focusing on what individuals can do to reduce the impact on climate.
