Dumfries Police have announced today that they have had a number of people asking why there were two Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopters circling Dumfries around 6pm last night Wednesday the 2nd of August 2017.
A Police Spokesperson stated on Facebook “The coastguard were responding to an automatic beacon distress alert, due to the nature of this alert an extensive search was carried out by the rescue helicopter and local coastguard teams. The beacon has since been found and confirmed to be a false alarm.”
