Win The World’s Only Bottle Of ‘Beast From The East’ Gin

Crafty Distillery, a new grain to glass distillery and visitor centre based near Newton Stewart, Dumfries & Galloway have come up with a novel approach to tame the Beast from the East. They’ve distilled a once-in-a-lifetime gin featuring fresh snow from the storm and giving it away to one lucky follower of their Facebook page

Graham Taylor, Managing Director said, “We’ve given the ‘Beast from the East’ a warm welcome at Crafty Distillery and infused our Hills & Harbour Gin with freshly deposited snow from right outside the distillery. This one of a kind gin has been chill filtered and diluted to 40% with ‘Beast from the East’ blizzard-grade white stuff. This subzero special edition frosted bottle is the only one in existence, and is bound to give your taste buds a blast … a Siberian one.”

Social media users can win the only bottle in existence by liking and sharing the special facebook post on the Crafty Distillery’s page by clicking HERE , with the winner being announced next week once the storm has passed.

Crafty Distillery’s unique approach has already seen them nominated for ‘Best Innovation’ and ‘Best Distilled Gin’ at the 2017 Scottish Gin Awards for their tasty Hills & Harbour Gin.

The modern distillery is positioned on an enviable, elevated position with spectacular views across the hills and forests of Galloway. Their first product, the smooth and vibrant Hills & Harbour Gin includes local Noble Fir needles and Bladderwrack Seaweed. It leads with juniper and is balanced with hints of forest fir, tropical fruit, citrus spice, tangy sherbet and a subtle scent of the shore. A balanced and versatile gin, so you can serve anyway you like.

The concept, like the Crafty brand is about creating a gin that builds on the principles of what makes gin great but it takes it a step further by reducing dryness and increasing taste, which ultimately gives it a wider appeal through great balance and drinkability. This was about creating a gin that more people can enjoy, to bring more people into craft spirits.

“We’ve also added some of our own wheat grain spirit which means we can craft something that really stands out.”

Staying true to their motto of ‘Keeping Everyone in Good Spirits’ they called on their many followers to help refine their favourite recipe, which their distiller Craig Rankin developed through a great many experimentations.

“We’re a social lot down here in Galloway and we want that inclusive spirit to come through when we develop our products” Taylor said. “We picked 100 lucky people at random then sent them 3 versions of the recipe.”
“By incorporating the feedback from the Crafty 100, Hills & Harbour become a gin tailored by the people for the people, which is so key to Crafty Distillery’s mission ‘To create tasty honest spirits for everyone who likes a tipple”
“It’s great so many gin fans and industry experts are enjoying our way of doing things. Scotland has always had a knack of being at the forefront of invention, and we made a conscious effort when we built the distillery to carry on this tradition, that’s why our logo is a little bolt of inspiration.”
