Assault – Dumfries
Police Scotland officers in Dumfries want to trace the driver of a black coloured Ford Fiesta car who was seen to assault a cyclist at the junction of Brooms Road and Cumberland Street in the town at around 1415 hours on Tuesday 23 February 2016. The attack took place after the assailant alighted from the car, approached the passing cyclist and then assaulted him. As a result the cyclist, a 27 year old man received injuries to his nose as a result however did not require medical attention.
Constable Lee-Ann Hawker at Dumfries said “this appears to have been a completely unprovoked attack on a lone cyclist in the town and we at a loss to understand why. Anyone who may have been in the area of Brooms Road/Cumberland Street around this time and who can help identify the car driver, who is described as being male, 20/25 years, big build with a spotty complexion, a slight beard or unshaven and short ginger hair, is asked to call us at Dumfries in the 101 number. The car is thought to be a three door, black coloured Ford Fiesta with darkened windows and was last seen travelling up Cumberland Street.”
