Galloway Photography is the husband & wife team of Dave and Beth Currie. Dave is Scottish, born and bred, but spent 24 years “down south” where he met and married Beth, before eventually “bringing her home” to Scotland.
They moved to Glentrool Village in 2012 and are now incredibly happy to have some of southern Scotland’s most striking landscapes and wonderful wildlife right on their doorstep. Having been keen amateur photographers for many years, living in such a rich and diverse area of natural beauty pretty much inspired them to “go pro” and form Galloway Photography.
They would probably describe themselves primarily as “nature photographers”, trying ardently to capture the awesome beauty of this area, whether as a landscape shot of a stunning mountain vista, or a wildlife photo of the cutest little red squirrel ever to crunch a hazelnut. Additionally, since they live in the only village to be located within Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park, they have been in prime position for night photography and the Milky Way really shines out in some of their photographs. Occasionally though they will step away from “conventional” shooting and try to photograph from a “different perspective”. Amongst their portfolio you will occasionally find some more abstract examples, or some close-up (“macro”) photography.
For equipment, Dave and Beth use Canon 5DMkIII cameras and almost exclusively Canon lenses. Manfrotto tripods are used for the long exposure night photography, and all processing of photographs is carried out on PCs using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
