D&G Libraries launch ‘Wealth of Reading’ summer promotion
All our regional libraries are hosting a special summer reading promotion for adults to coincide with the Commonwealth Games.
The ‘Wealth of Reading’ promotion, which will run in all libraries until the 30 September, has been designed to celebrate reading and the Commonwealth.
Writers from around the world and books featuring wonderful places and characters from Commonwealth countries are available in print format in branches and on free downloadable e-books from www.dumgal.gov.uk/ebooks
Readers can also win a brand new tablet computer by submitting a review of a book they have read from the ‘Wealth of Reading’ collection at their local library. More details are available at www.scottishlibraries.org
Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chairman of the Customer and Community Services Committee said: “Reading can open up a whole world of imagination and entertainment and libraries are a great place for people to get more involved in books.”
The promotion, which is funded by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), will encourage adults to read more by promoting authors and books linked to Commonwealth countries, such as Stef Penney, Alexander McCall Smith, Nadine Gordimer and Monica Ali.
