A Dumfries and Galloway College lecturer has been honoured with a special award at a prestigious ceremony celebrating the work colleges do across Scotland.
Susan McLellan, a lecturer in Health and Social Studies, was shortlisted in the College Development Network’s Learning and Teaching Colleague of the Year category.
And on Friday, November 25, at the glitzy ceremony at Radisson Blu, Glasgow, a beaming Susan took to the stage after her name was announced as the winner… in front of more than 280 guests who attended the biggest-ever Scottish College Awards, which heralds the talent, innovation and success by colleges, staff and students.
The ambition and excellence of the nominees was reflected in the record-breaking number of entries this year – 160 submissions from every part of the country – with the evening hosted by the BBC’s Amy Irons and guest speaker Jamie Hepburn, MSP, Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training.
Susan, who has been at Dumfries and Galloway College since 2016, said:
“I felt incredibly proud to go on stage and receive the prize – it was really something very special indeed.
“To be recognised in this way is quite overwhelming, if I’m honest, but I would like to thank all of my colleagues and students at Dumfries and Galloway College for their support. Without them, the award would never have been possible.”
